We are so fortunate!! We live in one of the most diverse areas of the country. Ontario has a little bit of everything for everyone. For outdoor enthusiast / campers, there is an abundance of different eco systems to enjoy, explore and learn about. A chance for individuals and families alike to learn about nature and enjoy our beautiful abundance of outdoor living, building experiences that will truly shape their lives and create life long memories.
One of the most unique and majestic features nature offers to our province is its proximity to the Great Lakes. These lakes have sustained us and entertained us for hundreds of years. The great lakes provide approximately 20% of the worlds fresh water. They touch a population base of approximately 34 million people in 8 U.S. states, BUT, we are the only province in Canada that borders on these waters, this is truly one of our provinces greatest resources.
There are many varied systems and features within the lakes. In Prince Edward County, we are very fortunate to have one of the most well known of these features, the sandbanks and dunes of Quinte Bay. The sandbanks and dunes are under the control of the Province and have been designated and assigned as a Provincial Park. Encompassing an area of over 1500 hectares it provides a unique and world famous destination for over 850,000 visitors every year.
Our little slice of this is, Sandbanks River Country Campground, which is immediately adjacent to the park and a 5 minute walk to the beach. We provide a quiet family environment to camp and enjoy the many activities and features the provincial park and Prince Edward County has to offer. By reserving a site with us you can enjoy the dunes all day and relax in a cozier more private family setting at night. We are pleased to be neighbours with the park and we encourage everyone to visit this and many of the other activities and attractions of Prince Edward County. Come stay with us, “Stay on the river…Play on the beach!!’ Hope to see you soon!!
