Joey Welten dedicated his entire life to agriculture, specifically dairy farming, in a small village just outside of Ottawa. As a young man working with his father and brothers and then taking over the farm as an adult. We all know what a sense of commitment is needed to be successful in any endeavour but dairy farming truly is 24 / 7 / 365 business. A few years back Joey began to feel the need for change and soon the farm was sold. Joey was not one to sit around, he needed to be busy and do something productive, an idea was born.
Joey, his wife, Darlene and 5 children all have a passion for the outdoor life. Owning a campground had been an thought in Joey’s mind for a few years. With the sale of the farm that dream would soon become a reality and so in 2016, Joey put his idea into action and began the search for his next adventure.
Joey and Darlene began their journey, while looking at many properties across this corner of our beautiful Province, they came across Martin’s River Country Campground. The campground had the unique opportunity of being immediately adjacent to a world famous provincial park. Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County, a world class facility, would provide the final incentive to make the decision. As of April 1st, 2017, the journey came to its inevitable conclusion on the Outlet River. Joey would continue the camping tradition, that Martin’s family had lived for 40 years, and allow his campground ownership dream come true.
